Local Libations: Mixing It Up in Massachusetts

Local Libations: Mixing It Up in Massachusetts

Elizabeth Cecil

Chris Weld turns his smooth spirits from Berkshire Mountain Distillers into some exciting cocktails, too.

you’ll certainly enjoy drinking Berkshire Mountain’s spirits straight up or on the rocks, but if you’re looking for a new cocktail idea, try one of Chris Weld’s suggestions for mixing it up. He works the big flavors of the Ethereal gin into an equally bold cocktail called The Last Word—a mix of gin, lime juice, Chartreuse, and maraschino liqueur. He saves the Greylock gin for a favorite martini. The clean slate that is the Ice Glen vodka makes a great base for fresh infusions like a Bay Breeze (cranberry and pineapple juice) or an Ice Pick (lime juice, orange juice, and orange bitters). Chris suggest trying the Ragged Mountain Rum in the famous Bermuda libation known as a Dark and Stormy (simple syrup, ginger beer, and lime wedges) or in a more tropical-style drink like a Bolero (rum, brandy, lime juice, orange juice, and simple syrup).
