Hunting Hints : Get your Ducks in a row

>Get Skills  Chilmark Police Officer Jeff Day teaches a free Hunter Safety course at the Rod and Gun Club every year. It’s a great way to fulfill the course requirement to obtain your Firearms Identification Card (FID), pick up sharp shooting tips, and perhaps meet someone willing to take you along for the day. You must be 18 to enroll, or 15 - 17 with consent of a parent or guardian. See http://www.MVRodandGunClub.com or call 627-3537 for details.

>Be Legal The Mass. Division of Fisheries and Wildlife (MassWildlife) has all the laws, regulations and calendar schedules you need to hunt birds. Google the name for an accurate url.

>Get Active  Public hearings are held throughout the Commonwealth by the Fisheries & Wildlife Board about regulations, and to obtain public comment. For more information, dates, and locations, follow the PUBLIC HEARINGS link on the MassWildlife website (same site as above).

>Take Tips  For example: Shoot a goose that’s flying towards the back of the V formation; they are usually the younger (and hence more tender) birds.
