Morning Drink

My dad’s best friend introduced us to this a few years ago. I was skeptical about the jalapeño (especially at 6 or 7 am), but now I’m a convert—it’s delicious and transformative. (Note: You really do need a Vitamix for this one.)


  • 1 peeled kiwi
  • 1 peeled banana
  • 1⁄4 peeled orange
  • 1⁄4 unpeeled Granny Smith apple
  • 1 tiny slice of jalapeño pepper
  • 1 knuckle-sized piece of unpeeled ginger
  • 1 fistful of watercress
  • 1 clump of mint
  • 1 tablespoon whey
  • Splash of organic apple juice (enough to just cover the fruit)

Throw in blender. Blend. Drink.

Yield: 1 serving
